Kiran Pandit Appointed Deputy Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank
The Government of Nepal has appointed Kiran Pandit, a serving Executive Director at Nepal Rastra Bank, as the new Deputy Governor of the central bank.
The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, filling one of the two vacant Deputy Governor positions at Nepal Rastra Bank.
The posts had remained unoccupied following the retirement of former Deputy Governors Neelam Dhungana Timsina and Bam Bahadur Mishra. With Pandit’s appointment, one of the vacant positions has now been filled, while the other remains open.
Pandit brings extensive experience from within the central bank, where he has been serving as an Executive Director. His appointment is expected to contribute to strengthening monetary policy implementation and financial sector oversight in the country.
Nepal Rastra Bank, the nation’s central monetary authority, plays a crucial role in maintaining financial stability, regulating banks and financial institutions, and guiding economic policy.
Officials believe that Pandit’s institutional knowledge and experience will support the bank’s ongoing efforts to navigate economic challenges and enhance regulatory effectiveness.
