Government appoints Maha Prasad Adhikari as 17th governor of Nepal Rastra Bank

The government of Nepal has appointed Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari as the 17th governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
A meeting of the cabinet held today (Monday) appointed Mr. Adhikari as governor. He is currently serving as the chief executive officer of Nepal Investment Board. Before joining the Nepal Investment Board, he served as the deputy governor of Nepal Rastra Bank.
Maha Prasad Adhikari along with Keshav Prasad Bhattarai and Chintamani Siwakoti were chosen as candidates for the position of governor by the recommendation committee coordinated by Finance Minister Yubaraj Khatiwada.
Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari was born in Khotang, Simpani in 1963. He started central banking career in the post of Assistant in 1985. After that he has been appointed as Chartered Accountant in 1995. During his 25-year service period, he had worked in banking operation, financial management, bank regulation, supervision and inspection sector. He is a Chartered Accountant. He had passed CA from Institute of Chartered Accountant of India in 1993.
