Stock Market plunges by double digit; Index dips by 16.63 points with turnover above Rs 68.19 crore

On the first trading day of the week, the benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) lost 16.63 points (1.01%) to close at 1,627.24 points today.
NEPSE Index opened at 1643.77 points and went up to 1648.22 points today during the first trading hour of the day, and after that it was seen in downward trend.
98,356 unit share of Janata Bank Nepal Limited (JNBL) and 70,000 units shares of Siddhartha Equity Oriented Scheme (SEOS) were traded the most today.
NB Insurance Company Limited (NBIL), Mero Microfinance Bittiya Sanstha Limited (MERO), Bottlers Nepal Terai Limited (BNT), Synergy Power Company Limited (SPDL) and Himalayan Distillery Limited (HDL) hit positive circuit break today.
The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 68.18 arba, in which more than 11.97 lakh units shares were traded through 5,446 transactions.
Sensitive and float index went down by 4.08 and 1.34 points respectively.
Except Manufacturing & Production and Others sector, all the sectors in NEPSE landed on red. Insurance sub-group witnessed the biggest drop of 104.87 points followed by Hotel sector that plunged by 49.69 points.
