Stock Market in 2015: NEPSE rises by 27.41%, Bad year for Hotel & Hydropower sector

Benchmark index of NEPSE saw a rise of 27.41% at the end of the year 2015 as compared to last year. On January 1, 2014, NEPSE was at 903.68 points, while this year the index is at 1151.38 points, a year-on-year rise of 247.7 points.
Top Gainers in Commercial Bank SectorNIC Asia price on January 1, 2015 was Rs 695 and on December 31, 2015 the price is Rs 999. It has gone up by 43.74%.
Nepal SBI Bank Limited on January 1, 2015 price was Rs 1,069 and on December 31, 2015 the price is Rs 1490, which is a rise of 39.38%.
Citizens Bank International Limited and Standard Chartered Bank Limited were also among the top gainers with a percentage rise of 37.76% and 35.56% respectively.
Top Losers in Commercial Bank SectorGlobal IME price on January 1, 2015 was Rs 495 and on December 31, 2015 the price is Rs 395. It has declined by 20.20%
NMB Bank price on January 1, 2015 was Rs 507 whereas on December 1 , 2015 it’s Rs 428. It has declined by 15.58%.

Malika Bikas Bank share price on January 1 2015 was Rs 140 and on December 31, 2015 the share price reached to Rs 250 which is a rise of 78.57%.
Kankai Bikas Bank, Gandaki Bikas Bank, Reliable Development Bank, Kasthamandap Development Bank, Western Development Bank, Mithila Laghu Bitta Bikas Bank, Karnali Development Bank, Muktinath Development Bank, Tinau Development Bank, Tourism Development Bank, Araniko Developmnet Bank, Shangrila Development Bank , Ace Development Bank and Swabalamban Bikas Bank were the gainers by the end of the year 2015.
Sahayogi Vikas Bank share price on January 1, 2015 was Rs 512 whereas by the end of 2015 its share price declined by 32.05% to close at 354 on December 31, 2015.

The gainers of Insurance Sector by the end of this year were Shikhar Insurance, Prudential Insurance Company, Nepal Insurance Company, Siddhartha Insurance and Lumbini General Insurance.
The price of Shikhar Insurance on January 1, 2015 was at Rs 790 and on December 31, it was at Rs 1,298 which is a rise of 64.30%.
Nepal Life Insurance was the top loser in Insurance Sector with a decline in share price by 16.17% from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.

The year 2015 did not seem good for the Hydropower sector. In overall, the share price of Hydropower companies closed below the closing price of January 01, 2015.
Its only Sanima mai Hydropower whose share price has increased 7% from January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015.
