Stock Market fails to welcome budget; Index plunges by double digit to close at 1594.43 points with turnover of Rs 76.38 crore

The benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) dropped by 21.15 points or 1.31% to close at 1,594.43 points. NEPSE Index opened at 1,615.58 points today and the local bourse was seen in downward trend, failing to welcome the Rs 1.278 trillion budget presented by the government yesterday for FY 2074/75. index 91,959 units shares of Nabil Equity Fund (NEF) and 85,599 units shares of Prabhu Bank Limited (PRVU) were traded the most today. Himalayan General Insurance Limited (HGI) and Standard Chartered Bank Limited (SCB) had the highest turnover of Rs 5.68 crore and Rs 4.84 crore respectively today. Karnali Bikas Bank Limited (KRBL) hit positive circuit break today whereas Synergy power Company Limited (SPDL) and Mithila Laghubitta Bikas Bank Limited (MLBBL) were among the top losers companies. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 76.38 crore where more than 12.97 lakh units shares were traded through 7,190 transactions. Sensitive index and float index went down by 4.64 points and 1.51 points respectively. Except Finance and Manufacturing & Production, all the sub-indices landed in red zone today. Insurance sub-index plunged by 120.5 points. sector losers traded trans turn gainers
