SEBON issues press statement amidst panic selling due to Corona Virus fears; ensures adequate steps are being taken

News published latterly regarding securities transaction in secondary market and the market situation have drawn the attention of SEBON. SEBON contends that market should function on its own and as a regulatory body it always studies the stock market with minute details.
While spreading of negative news about share market is taking place by associating the share market with Corona Virus (COVID-19) in recent times, it is well known that adverse effects of COVID-19 are not detected yet in Nepal and the government of Nepal has taken several steps of precautions for prevention and control of COVID-19. Similarly, SEBON has put forward various steps for the development and promotion of primary and secondary market of securities, economic conditions of country and even financial conditions of the listed companies are satisfactory. Hence, there is nothing to worry about in this situation and investors need not to take any decisions regarding sales of securities as a result of this scenario.
