Qatari Delegation Holds Talks on Economic and Tourism Cooperation with Nepal
A visiting Qatari delegation held discussions on Monday with Nepal’s political leadership and key stakeholders, focusing on economic development, tourism promotion, and avenues for mutual cooperation between the two countries.
The delegation is in Nepal at the invitation of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI). During their visit, separate meetings were held with Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation Anil Kumar Sinha and Foreign Secretary Amrit Bahadur Rai, alongside FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal, Mishal bin Mohammed Ali Al-Ansari, Ambassador of Qatar to Nepal, Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, Board Member of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and representatives from Qatar Airways.
According to the FNCCI, discussions at the Ministry of Culture, Tourism, and Civil Aviation focused on strengthening cooperation in tourism, economic development, civil aviation, and flight connectivity. Minister Sinha emphasized that the government is prioritizing policy reforms and facilitation to expand tourism, trade, and investment in Nepal.
Meanwhile, discussions with Foreign Secretary Rai centered on policy facilitation for investment, bilateral investment promotion, and Qatari investment opportunities in Nepal. Rai highlighted Nepal as an attractive destination for foreign investment, particularly in the energy, tourism, infrastructure, and IT sectors.
Ambassador Al-Ansari reiterated Qatar’s commitment to expanding cooperation in economic and tourism sectors and expressed the embassy’s readiness to facilitate Qatari investments. FNCCI President Dhakal highlighted the potential for growth in tourism, aviation, hotels, and infrastructure, while pointing out opportunities in hydropower, agriculture, tourism, and services for Qatari investors.
Mohamed bin Ahmed Al Obaidli, representing the Qatar Chamber, noted the private sector’s interest in long-term economic collaboration, emphasizing that aviation and tourism partnerships would further strengthen bilateral trade and people-to-people ties.
