Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has called the leaders of SAARC member countries to greet with Namaste rather than shaking hands while meeting each other. PM Oli's such a proposition comes as a part to remain safe from the Covid-19.

In a video conference of the heads of the states and heads of the governments organised today at the initiative of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Prime Minister Oli urged all to launch awareness campaigns, to be mobilized for its prevention and not to organise mass gatherings while stressing the need for collective initiatives to combat novel corona virus outbreak in the SAARC region.

Welcoming Indian PM Modi's proposal of establishing SAARC Emergency Fund to fight against Covid-19, PM Oli asked the bodies concerned to expand mechanisms for the establishment of hospitals at rural areas as well as for research works and treatment.

PM Oli further asked the SAARC member countries to give continuity to their internal trades, transactions and regional discussions.

Also the SAARC chair, Prime Minister Oli participated in the video conference from the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers at Singha Durbar.
