Only 37.07% Capital Expenditure Spend, While 82.24% Of Tax Revenue Is Recorded
With only 28 days till the end of the current fiscal year 7078/79, the federal government has only been able to use 37.07 percent of the capital budget. According to the Financial Comptroller General Office's (FCGO) daily receipts and payments status report, out of Rs. 3.78 Kharba of the entire capital allocation only Rs. 1.40 Kharba has been spent as of Saturday. According to estimates, the government will need to spend around Rs. 8.97 Arba every day to mobilize the Rs. 2.37 Kharba capital budget that has yet to be spent.
This is less than the amount spent in the same period of the previous fiscal year 2077/78, when around Rs. 1.46 Kharba – or 42.53 percent of the total allotment – was spent.
Apart from capital expenditure, the FCGO has reported tax revenue of Rs. 8.78 Kharba and non-tax revenue of Rs. 69.8 Arba for the period ending today. A total of Rs. 43.4 Arba in other receipts has been recorded.
Meanwhile, just 48.21% of Rs. 1.89 Kharba financing amount has been spent. The financing budget is used to repay the government's loan principal and interest, as well as to make investments.
After the festival season in October last year, Finance Minister Janardan Sharma announced a plan to spend 10% of the development budget each month, but the development ministries have mainly failed to carry out the programs they planned, causing the expenditure to rise.
