The Government of Nepal has announced a public holiday for Monday (today) i.e. on the 28th Falgun on the occasion of the 'Gyalpo Lhosar'.

Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) will remain closed to mark Gyalpo Lhosar. Regular trading will resume in NEPSE from Tuesday (Falgun 29, 2080) at 11:00 AM.

Gyalpo Lhosar is an annual New Year festival observed by the Sherpa people of Nepal, coinciding with the Tibetan New Year. Celebrated from the second day of the waxing moon in the month of Falgun until the full moon, the festival follows a 12-year cycle, each year associated with an animal sign. Rituals during Gyalpo Lhosar include visits to local springs, expressions of gratitude, and offerings to Nagas (snake gods) and other water spirits. Additionally, smoke offerings are made to spirits linked to the natural world.
