Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) had formally released the online trading system on Kartik 20, 2075 on the presence of Finance Minister, Dr. Yubaraj Khatiwada. The trading in online platform has completed 3 days today. According to a press release published by NEPSE, they are slowly gaining stability in the system and the glitches are being looked into.
The major problem that investors were facing post-launch was the unavailability of real time data, which is not the problem with the trading system but in the system that disseminates the transaction details. The release clarifies that the NEPSE's trading system and website are operated on different data centers and while displaying the information through the Application Program Interface (API) problems are coming in the data exchange phase. NEPSE assures that now this problem has been solved. Similarly, the NEPSE index is determined by the world-wide Value Weighted Index from the start, and the release states there have been no changes in this method.

The other issue we have been hearing is the differences in prices seen at different brokers. In the new system, each broker has to establish connection with NEPSE every morning before the trading begins. So any issues while establishing connection or difference in the time each connection is established might have led to the difference.

The press release also says, "We are aware that the investors are demanding immediate clearing and settlement. However this is possible only if the clearing bank makes the electronic transfers convenient. Cuurently out of 4 clearing banks associated with NEPSE, one has already started providing this service to its customers. The remaining banks have been informed and are expected to follow soon." The release ends with a note that expresses NEPSE's commitment for the development and expansion of capital market of Nepal.
