Nepal Rastra Bank Sets New Foreign Exchange Rates; US Dollar Hits Record High

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has published the official foreign exchange rates for today, with the US dollar climbing further to reach its highest level on record. According to the central bank, the exchange rates have been fixed for Wednesday based on prevailing international market conditions.

As per the latest rates, the buying rate of one US dollar has been set at NPR 145.35, while the selling rate stands at NPR 145.95, reflecting a continued appreciation of the dollar against the Nepali rupee.

Among other major currencies, the European euro has been fixed at a buying rate of NPR 170.86 and a selling rate of NPR 171.56. Similarly, the UK pound sterling is being traded at NPR 195.02 for buying and NPR 195.83 for selling. The Swiss franc has been valued at NPR 182.55 for buying and NPR 183.31 for selling.

The exchange rate for the Australian dollar has been set at NPR 96.44 for buying and NPR 96.84 for selling, while the Canadian dollar stands at NPR 105.48 and NPR 105.92, respectively. Likewise, the Singapore dollar is being traded at a buying rate of NPR 112.70 and a selling rate of NPR 113.17.

In the Asian currency segment, the Japanese yen (per 10 units) has been fixed at NPR 9.38 for buying and NPR 9.42 for selling. The Chinese yuan has been set at NPR 20.64 for buying and NPR 20.72 for selling. Similarly, the Saudi Arabian riyal is valued at NPR 38.75 for buying and NPR 38.91 for selling, while the Qatari riyal stands at NPR 39.77 and NPR 39.93, respectively.

According to the central bank, the Thai baht has been fixed at a buying rate of NPR 4.61 and a selling rate of NPR 4.63. The UAE dirham stands at NPR 39.58 for buying and NPR 39.74 for selling, while the Malaysian ringgit has been set at NPR 35.58 and NPR 35.72, respectively. Likewise, the South Korean won (per 100 units) has been fixed at NPR 9.85 for buying and NPR 9.90 for selling. The Swedish krona has been valued at NPR 15.61 for buying and NPR 15.67 for selling, while the Danish krone stands at NPR 22.87 and NPR 22.96, respectively.

NRB has also fixed the exchange rate of the Hong Kong dollar at NPR 18.68 for buying and NPR 18.76 for selling. The Kuwaiti dinar remains the highest-valued currency, with a buying rate of NPR 474.05 and a selling rate of NPR 476.01. Similarly, the Bahraini dinar has been set at NPR 385.54 for buying and NPR 387.14 for selling, while the Omani riyal stands at NPR 377.53 and NPR 379.09, respectively. The Indian rupee (per 100 units) has been fixed at a buying rate of NPR 160.00 and a selling rate of NPR 160.15.

The central bank has stated that these exchange rates may be revised at any time as required. It has also clarified that the exchange rates set by commercial banks may differ, and the most up-to-date rates will be available on the official website of Nepal Rastra Bank.
