Nepal Investment Bank earns Rs 2.37 arba in Q3; EPS at Rs 36.24; becomes first bank to disburse loans more than Rs 1 kharba

Nepal Investment Bank Limited (NIB) has made a net profit growth of 29.81% in the third quarter of the FY 2073/74. As per the unaudited financial statement published today, NIB’s net profit has increased to a whopping Rs 2.37 arba from Rs 1.83 arba posted in the same period last year. Its deposit base has reached Rs 1.19 kharba with disbursed loans of Rs 1.01 kharba. Its loans has increased by 20.83% to Rs 1.01 kharba. With this, NIB has become the first bank in Nepal to disburse more than Rs 1 kharba (100 billions) in loans. Despite this, its CD ratio is at just 69.15% and has more room for growth. In this period, its net interest income increased by 21% to Rs 3.56 arba. Likewise, its operating profit has also increased to Rs 3.45 arba, propelled by increases in fees, commissions and other operating incomes. Its non-performing loan has also slightly declined to 0.64% in this period. However, the cost of deposits has increased to 4.55%. This is attributed to the increase in interest rate on savings due to the liquidity situation and as per NRB’s recent directive. As of the end of Q3, its paid up capital stands at Rs 8.74 arba with reserve at Rs 9.95 arba. Its annualized EPS now stands at Rs 36.24, net worth per share at Rs 213.86 and P/E ratio at 21.34 times.
