Eastern Hydropower’s Net Profit Soars by 264% in Q3; Revenue Up By 11.96%

Eastern Hydropower Limited (EHPL) has reported a significant surge in profitability, with its net profit reaching Rs. 1.23 crores in the third quarter of fiscal year 2081/82—marking a remarkable 264% jump compared to just Rs. 33.99 lakhs in the same quarter of the previous fiscal year.
The company's annualized earnings per share (EPS) rose sharply to Rs. 2.66, up from Rs. 0.73 last year. Total revenue increased by 11.96% to Rs. 10.47 crores, compared to Rs. 9.35 crores in Q3 of 2080/81.
While revenue rose, the company's administrative expenses nearly doubled, climbing by 88.08% to Rs. 37.31 lakhs. In contrast, finance expenses declined slightly by 3.57% to Rs. 3.91 crores.
Despite the strong profit growth, the company’s reserve and surplus remains in the negative, standing at Rs. -16.42 crores, slightly higher than the Rs. -15.94 crores recorded in the same quarter last year.
Eastern Hydropower's loans and borrowings came down to Rs. 60.63 crores, a 4.69% decline from last year, while its investment in property, plant, and equipment increased by 25.76%, totaling Rs. 10.63 lakhs.
The company’s net worth per share saw a marginal dip of 1.03%, now standing at Rs. 73.52. As of the third quarter, Eastern Hydropower’s market price stood at Rs. 378.66, with a high price-to-earnings (PE) ratio of 142.32 times.
