National Anti-Money Laundering Day Observed Across Nepal

The National Anti-Money Laundering Day is being observed across the country today through various awareness and capacity-building programmes.

The Department of Money Laundering Investigation is marking the Day by organizing a special function in the presence of Finance Minister Rameshwor Khanal. Speaking on the occasion, Director General of the Department, Gajendra Thakur, said the Day is observed in commemoration of the promulgation of the Anti-Money Laundering Act, 2064 BS.

The Council of Ministers, through a decision made on December 31, 2024, had resolved to observe National Anti-Money Laundering Day every year on Magh 14 according to the Nepali calendar.

Anti-money laundering initiatives are aimed at preventing financial crimes, promoting fair and transparent business practices, and strengthening the country’s economic resilience.
