Mega Bank Nepal’s Sakchyam-supported Sanfebagar; Achham Branch Inaugurated

At an event organized today in Sanfebagar, Achham, Mega Bank Nepal opened its Sakchyam-supported Sanfebagar, Achham branch office. The bank’s Sanfebagar branch is the first branch office to be opened by a private commercial bank in Sanfebagar municipality, and only the second private commercial bank branch to be opened in all of Achham district.
Speaking at the inauguration event, Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari, Dy. Governor, Nepal Rastra Bank said, “Sakchyam’s support with cost-sharing and technical support for bank and microfinance institutions has helped materialize Nepal Rastra Bank’s commitment to expand access to financial services in remote areas of Nepal.”
Speaking on Sakchyam’s support in opening the branch, Mr. Baljit Vohra, Team Leader, Sakchyam, said, “Sakchyam is happy to partner with Mega Bank Nepal to help take its innovative products and services such as Tab Banking to rural populations. We are confident that this Sanfebagar branch will introduce the local population into the formal financial sector and help improve the economic landscape of the area.”
Commenting on the bank’s new branch, Mr. Shreechandra Bhatta, Dy. CEO, Mega Bank Nepal said, “Mega Bank has always believed in taking financial services to the reach of all Nepalese. We are glad to be partnering with Sakchyam to introduce more branches and our services in rural Nepal.”
Sakchyam is a UK Aid-funded Access to Finance initiative. It is implemented for DFID Nepal by Louis Berger, in partnership with local and international partner institutions.
