Governor Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari kickstarts BSBS technology at NRB Biratnagar office; bank to install automated machines to shred useless banknotes

Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Mr. Maha Prasad Adhikari has inaugurated Banknote Shredding and Briquetting System at Biratnagar office of the central bank on Falgun 13, 2078.

With the introduction of the new bank bill shredding system, the central bank will now be able to shred 100 kg of old and useless banknotes per hour which will then be processed to make brickets that could be used as a source of energy for both household and industrial purposes. The central bank is planning to install such facilities at its Kathmandu, Janakpur, Birgunj, Pokhara, Siddharthanagar, Nepalgunj, and Dhangadi offices apart from Biratnagar, as per the media statement.
