Full fledge CSDC implementation from today; Trading of shares in Demat form only

At the direction of Securities Board of Nepal, trading of shares of listed companies can be carried out only in Demat form from Magh 01, 2072. The trading of companies that has failed to dematerialize their shares by the end of the Poush 2072 has been halted effective from Magh 01, 2072. The trading of such companies will only start after they enter into dematerialization process. From today onwards (Magh 3) transaction of shares will be possible only in Demat form. Shareholders having physical share certificates have to dematerialize the shares before they can sell it. The transaction of physical share certificates will not be allowed from today. Till date 161 companies have gone in full Demat process. Altogether 50 companies are registered as clearing members. Moreover, there are 48 Licensed Depository Participants and 1Lakh 45 Thousand 334 beneficial demat owners’ account have been registered. More than 29.68  Crore shares are in Demat form.
