Commercial Banks deposits surge by Rs 1.92 kharba in 9 months, loans up by Rs 2.72 kharba

In 9 months of the current fiscal year, commercial banks have increased their deposit base by Rs 1.92 kharba. Up to the end of April, the total deposits at commercial banks currently stands at Rs 19 kharba and 44 arba. On the first day of current fiscal year, commercial banks had Rs 17 kharba 52 arba in deposits. Meanwhile, loans have increased by Rs 2 kharba and 72 arba. The banks had disbursed loans of Rs 13 kharba 86 arba by the end of Asadh in the last FY 2072/73, which has increased to Rs 16 kharba 58 arba as at April end. Though deposits and loans both have continuously surged this fiscal year, the growth of lending has been significantly higher than the deposits. In the month of April this year, the deposits had decreased by Rs 9 arba. The deposit that stood Rs 19.53 arba in the 1st week of April had dropped to Rs 19.44 arba. On the other hand, lending had increased by Rs 15 arba. Lending stood Rs 16.43 arba in the 1st week of April and surged to Rs 16.58 in the last week.
