Over the past three months, Nepal has seen more than fifty thousand tourists arrive each month. According to figures from the first 11 months of 2022, Nepal received about forty-nine thousand visitors each month.

Whereas, due to restrictions on visitor arrivals, several months even saw a decrease to zero number of tourists in 2020 and 2021.

Maniraj Lamichhane, the director of the Nepal Tourism Board, sees these figures favorably. He claims that compared to 2019, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) forecasts that between 60 and 63 percent of the world will see an increase in tourist arrivals in 2022. According to him, the rate of arrival is also increasing at the same rate in Nepal.

Up till the month of November 2022, 546,216 tourists visited Nepal so far in 2022, according to the Nepal Tourism Board. Numerous visitors have traveled despite the danger of Covid-19 and dengue to engage in mountain climbing and trekking.

Businessmen, however, assert that despite the fact that the figures show encouraging indicators, there are still difficulties. The advent of non-resident Nepalese also contributed to the sudden rise in foreign visitor arrivals following the Covid-19 outbreak, according to Nilhari Bastola, head of the Trekking Agencies Association of Nepal (TAN). "The tremendous impact of resurrection on the hotel/tour/travel agency sector is still to be seen," he says. "The entry of many non-resident Nepalese, who have not been able to come to Nepal for a long time, has also boosted the number."

Along with the improvement in tourist arrivals, the country's income from tourism is also improving. According to the figures of Nepal Rastra Bank, in the first three months of the current fiscal year 2079/80, the country has earned Rs. 11.4 Arba from tourism alone.
