Armed Police Force Seizes Illegally Imported Goods Worth Rs 3.2 Million

In a significant operation, the Armed Police Force (APF) in Nepal has intercepted and confiscated goods valued at Rs 3.2 million, suspected to have been illegally imported from India to evade taxes.
The Deputy Superintendent of AFP Nepal, Mahendra Bharati, revealed that the interception occurred during routine security checks on Thursday at Simalghari in Khajura Rural Municipality-6. Alongside the goods, law enforcement also impounded the truck responsible for transporting the items into Nepal without proper tax clearance.
The seized items encompass a variety of products, including clothing, copper idols, kitchenware, decorative items, and more. DSP Bharati disclosed that two individuals, including the truck driver, were apprehended in connection with the illicit importation. The identified truck driver is an Indian national named Sakir Hussein.
This move by the Armed Police Force underscores the ongoing efforts to curb illegal activities, particularly those related to tax evasion through the smuggling of goods. The successful operation sends a strong message about the commitment to maintaining the integrity of the country's borders and enforcing tax regulations.
