Government Forms Talks Committee to Address Nationwide Transport Strike Over Ride-Sharing Rules

In response to the nationwide halt in public transportation, the government has formed a talks committee to engage in dialogue with transport entrepreneurs protesting the recent ride-sharing regulations introduced by the Gandaki Province government.

Eight major organizations representing transport entrepreneurs and workers suspended public transport services across the country, prompting urgent discussions among key government officials. Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak, along with other stakeholders, held a high-level meeting with representatives of the agitating transport sector earlier today.

According to Ram Chandra Tiwari, spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, the meeting concluded with the decision to establish a talks committee headed by a joint secretary from the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport. The committee will comprise eight government representatives and four members representing transport entrepreneurs and workers.

The government aims to resolve the ongoing dispute through negotiations and restore normalcy in public transportation services at the earliest.
