Dipak Kumar Sah Takes Charge as New Industry Minister

Newly appointed Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Dipak Kumar Sah has taken the oath of office and secrecy following his appointment on the recommendation of Prime Minister Balen Shah. President Ram Chandra Paudel administered the oath to Sah at the Office of the President in Sheetal Niwas on Thursday, shortly after formally appointing him to the vacant ministerial position.

Sah was appointed after Gauri Kumari Yadav resigned from the post earlier on Thursday. His appointment fills the vacancy created by Yadav’s resignation. Sah is a lawmaker from the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP), elected from Sunsari-4.

Following the oath-taking ceremony at Sheetal Niwas, Sah reached the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies and formally assumed office. Ministry Secretary Narayan Prasad Sharma Duwadi and other officials welcomed the newly appointed minister upon his arrival at the ministry.

Speaking briefly after assuming office, Sah said he would begin his work after reviewing the ministry’s past activities and progress. “I will first understand what has been done in the past and what progress has been made, and then move forward accordingly,” Sah said.

Asked by journalists whether ordinary consumers would continue to receive cooking gas smoothly, Sah said he would hold discussions within the ministry before making any concrete decision. “I will discuss the matter and work accordingly,” Sah said. “The people’s needs must be met.”

Sah also said his priority would be to consult with outgoing minister Gauri Kumari Yadav to understand the ministry’s previous decisions and ongoing work. “My priority is to talk to the former minister, understand what happened in the past, and then move forward. It will be easier to work after gaining that information,” he said.
