Home Ministry Suspends N-PABSON for Defying Directives and Violating Approved Statute
The Government of Nepal, Ministry of Home Affairs, has suspended the National Private and Boarding Schools' Association Nepal (N-PABSON), an umbrella organization representing private and boarding schools, until further notice.
The ministry decided after concluding that N-PABSON had repeatedly failed to comply with directives issued by the government and had carried out activities contrary to its approved statute and objectives.
According to a public notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs regarding the suspension of the organization, N-PABSON has been suspended under Sub-section (2) of Section 6 of the National Direction Act, 2018.
The ministry stated that N-PABSON, which was established and has been operating with government approval under the National Direction Act, 2018, had repeatedly failed to comply with directives issued by the ministry under Section 5 of the Act.
The ministry further said that office-bearers of the organization had engaged in activities contrary to the statute approved by the Government of Nepal and the organization's fundamental objectives.
In connection with the matter, the ministry had invited concerned stakeholders for discussions on Ashoj 23, 2083. During the discussion, the stakeholders were urged to carry out activities in accordance with the National Direction Act and the directives previously issued by the ministry on Mangsir 12, 2082.
However, as the directives were not followed, the ministry said it was compelled to take the decision to suspend the organization.
The Ministry of Home Affairs has also issued a stern warning that no individual, group, or faction will be permitted to conduct activities in the name of N-PABSON following the suspension.
The ministry stated that any activities carried out by any group or faction in the name of the suspended organization after the issuance of the notice would be considered illegal and subject to action under the prevailing laws.
The suspension will remain in effect until the government makes another decision regarding the organization.
