Reconstruction After Rasuwa Flood Cost Estimated at Nearly $4 Billion

The reconstruction of areas in Rasuwa damaged by floods and landslides is estimated to cost nearly $4 billion, according to an initial assessment. National Planning Commission member and infrastructure expert Arjun Jung Thapa said the estimate was based on a preliminary study by the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority.

A team led by a joint secretary conducted field visits and collected damage details from the affected areas. The estimate covers agriculture, schools, colleges, hydropower projects, roads and other physical infrastructure.

Thapa said the team has already presented its initial findings and is now finalizing the report with additional details. The detailed report is expected to be made public within a few days through a press conference or the authority’s website.
