Voter Turnout Reaches Over 24 Percent By 1 PM: EC

Voter turnout in the ongoing House of Representatives elections has reached more than 24.78 percent across the country today, according to the Election Commission.

By 1 pm, 44,55,790 votes (24.78 percent) have been cast across all 77 districts, said EC. Of the seven provinces, Gandaki recorded the highest voter turnout at 32.69 percent followed by Bagmati with 29.40 percent.

Similarly, Koshi province witnessed 23.15 percent while Madhes 16.15 percent, Lumbini 25.40 percent, Karnali 24.38 percent and Sudurpaschim 29.66 percent.

There are altogether 189,03,689 eligible voters—including 96,63,358 men, 92,40,131 women and 200 others---across the country.

A total of 65 political parties are contesting the polls with 61 electoral symbols. Altogether 3,406 candidates--3,017 male, 388 female, and 1 other--are running through the first-past-the-post electoral system.
