Vehicular Movement Resumes along Prithvi Highway and Narayanghat–Mugling Road
Traffic movement along the Prithvi Highway and Narayanghat–Mugling road section has returned to normal from 6:00 a.m. today, according to the District Police Office, Chitwan.
Vehicular movement along the Narayanghat–Mugling section had been suspended since 9:00 p.m. on Sunday due to a high risk of landslides triggered by continuous rainfall on Friday and Saturday. The heavy downpour had raised safety concerns, prompting authorities to halt traffic to prevent possible accidents.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Govinda Puri informed that with improved weather conditions, the roads have been cleared, and vehicles are now moving smoothly toward their destinations. He further stated that vehicles kept in 14 holding centres across the district have also been released and allowed to resume travel from this morning.
Authorities continue to monitor the area closely, as the terrain remains vulnerable to landslides during the ongoing post-monsoon period. Travelers have been advised to remain cautious while passing through the Narayanghat–Mugling stretch, one of the most vital routes connecting Kathmandu with the western and southern parts of the country.
