PROTON Donates RM200,000 in Drones for Nepal Flood , Jagdamba Motors Adds Rs 4 Crore

Malyasian automaker PROTON has contributed drones worth nearly RM200,000 to the Government of Nepal to aid disaster assessment following the recent floods, while its local distributor, Jagdamba Motors, has separately given Rs 4 crore to the Prime Minister's Disaster Relief Fund.

The drones were handed over to Malaysia's National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA) at the at the headquarters of the Special Malaysia Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (SMART), which is already deployed in Nepal on a relief mission and will carry the equipment into the country. The drones will stay in Nepal after handover, with SMART training local agencies on their use.

The equipment will be used to survey flood-affected areas, including locations that may be difficult or unsafe to reach from the ground. SMART will also train the relevant Nepali agency in operating the drones before handing them over to the government.
