VAT cases under administrative review
KATHMANDU, June 23:
Inland Revenue Department is currently investigating the complaints on VAT fraud. Some 15 complaints have been filed at department for administrative review. The firms can go for administrative review, if not convinced with the department and Inland Revenue Offices’ decision. The DG of the department is responsible authority to hear taxpayers complaints. If taxpayers are not satisfied with administrative review, they can also contest the decision at Revenue Tribunal that gives the final verdict. In the first phase, the department had confiscated books of 52 firms and discovered fake VAT bills worth Rs 3.48 billion from 31 firms. “Their investigation has been completed.”
