Unrest in Terai & Blockade affects Manufacture & Production sector: Unilever Nepal reports decline of 28.83% in net profit

Terai based manufacturing and production sector have taken a heavy toll on their profit due to the unrest and the blockade from India. Unilever Nepal Limited has reported 28.83 percent drop in net profit in the second quarter for the fiscal year 2072/73. According to the unaudited financial statement for the second quarter published by the multinational company today, its net profit has decreased to Rs 14.86 crore in second quarter up from 20.88 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous fiscal year. The company income (operations and other income) has dropped to Rs 66.30 crore from Rs 1.34 arba in previous fiscal year. Going by the company’s total expenditure, its total expenditure decreased to Rs 45.22 crore in Q2 as compared to Rs 1.02 arba in the corresponding quarter. Unilever’s reserve fund has slightly decreased to Rs1.07 arba in the second quarter from Rs 1.08 arba in the FY 2071/72. Its share capital remains at Rs 9.21 crore. Unilever EPS stands at Rs 645 (annualized) and its net worth per share is at Rs 1271. Its price to earnings ratio stands at 26 times.
