The Buddha Air's ATR 72-seater aircraft has started flights to and from Tumlingtar Airport in the Sankhuwasabha district after the upgradation of the airport's runway.

The Tumlingtar Office of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) said that Buddha Air's TR 72-seater made Kathmandu-Tumlingtar-Kathmandu flight from Tuesday.

Constructed 52 years ago, the airport received 72-seater for the first time on Tuesday.

The local residents expressed their pleasure after the Buddha Airport started the flights.

Station Manager of Buddha Air at Tumlingtar Airport Ram Luintel said that the company's 72-seater started flight after the increased number of passengers.  Prior to this, the passengers had limited access to plane tickets due to the higher number of travelers traveling to Mt Makalu.

The Aurn III Hydropower Project and the arrival of tourists contributed to higher demand for ticket.
