Suspension of Governor Influenced by Financial Mafia: NRB Employee Union

The Nepal Rastra Bank Employee Union has organized a major protest against the suspension of Governor Maha Prasad Adhikari, on Thursday, Baisakh 04, 2079 at the central bank's premises in Baluwatar. The protesters raised slogans against the central bank and demanded that the suspension of Adhikari be revoked.
The government accused Adhikari of leaking sensitive information and failing to perform his duties which resulted in his suspension. However, the protestors claimed that this isn’t the first time the person holding the Governor's position has been subjected to such baseless accusation. The union has claimed that the central bank’s authorities are challenged and put to scrutiny at times when the leaders of the country incline towards financial mafias.
Rudra Prasad Timsina, the central chairman of the Nepal Rastra Bank Employee Union, further said, “The previous governors, Mr. Kalyan Bikram Adhikari, Mr. Tilak Bahadur Rawal, and Mr. Biyaynath Bhattarai were also subjected to such accusations which lead them to resign from their posts prematurely.”
