Stock Market in sideways movement after election; Index rises by meager 0.65 points with minimal turnover of Rs 67.55 crore

On the first trading day after election, the benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) went up by 0.65 points or 0.04% to close at 1659.23 points. Today, NEPSE Index opened at 1658.58 points and the local bourse went up to 1675.07 points, and afterward it was seen in sideways movement. 78,557 unit shares of Arun Valley Hydropower Development Company limited (AHPC) and 75,000 unit shares of Asian Life Insurance Company Limited Promoter Shares (ALICLP) were traded the most today. Bottlers Nepal Terai (BNT) and Progressive Finance Company Limited (PROFL) hit positive circuit break today. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 67.55 crore where more than 11.31 lakh units shares were traded through 4,449 transactions. Sensitive and float index went slightly up by 0.31 and 0.1 points respectively. Except development banks, Hydropower and others, all sectors at Nepse landed in green zone today. Sub-indices of Manufacturing & Production and Hotels sector surged the most by 25.3 points and 14.95 points respectively.
