SEBON has invited suggestions from stakeholders and the general public on the proposed draft regulations by Mangsir 4, 2083 (November 20, 2026). The board may introduce intraday trading in phases after considering the necessary arrangements and requirements.
The Securities Board of Nepal (SEBON) has prepared the initial draft of the Securities Intraday Trading Regulations, 2083 to introduce intraday trading in Nepal's capital market. The proposed regulations are based on the concept paper on implementing intraday trading in Nepal, published by the board on Ashoj 8, 2083. The initiative aims to improve trading activity, market liquidity and the price setting process.
Under the proposed rules, stock exchanges and securities brokers must obtain approval from SEBON to operate intraday trading. Only listed securities meeting the prescribed standards will be eligible. Investors will be required to maintain the specified margin and close their buy or sell positions on the same trading day. Any position that remains open beyond the prescribed time will be automatically closed. The draft also proposes risk limits for investors, brokers, individual securities and the overall market, along with systems to monitor transactions and manage risks.
