Binod Chaudhary Elected ICAPP Standing Committee Member in South Korea
Nepali Congress Vice President Binod Chaudhary addressed the 13th General Assembly of the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP) in Seoul, South Korea, representing the Nepali Congress. He highlighted the need to empower the private sector, attract investment, strengthen domestic industries and connect Nepal’s businesses with global markets to accelerate economic development.
Referring to South Korea’s economic development model, Chaudhary said Nepal could draw lessons from its focus on globally competitive brands, private-sector empowerment and effective government–private sector cooperation. He emphasized that the state should create a favorable environment for entrepreneurship while maintaining a strategic and guiding role in economic development.
Chaudhary also stressed the importance of open markets, economic liberalization and globalization, while acknowledging concerns raised by Nepal’s youth regarding corruption, accountability, good governance and limited opportunities. He called for meaningful reforms, greater transparency and the creation of jobs, entrepreneurship opportunities and modern skills for young people within Nepal.
He further emphasized stronger cooperation among Asian countries on good governance, youth participation, entrepreneurship, responsible technology use and climate change. Highlighting the growing risks faced by Himalayan regions, he cited the recent Bhotekoshi floods in Nepal as a serious warning and called for collective international action to address climate-related challenges.
Meanwhile, Chaudhary has been elected as a member of ICAPP’s Standing Committee during the 13th General Assembly in Seoul. The Standing Committee plays a key role in coordinating the organization’s activities, policies and future direction. His election is expected to strengthen Nepal’s participation in regional political dialogue and provide a platform to raise issues related to Nepal’s economic transformation, inclusive development, entrepreneurship and international cooperation.
