The 73-megawatt Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Project, which had remained shut for nearly a month, has officially resumed electricity generation.
According to the project’s Administration Chief, Karan Gautam, power production was restarted after resolving technical issues and completing necessary maintenance works at the powerhouse and other project facilities. He stated that the temporary shutdown was caused by technical glitches that affected the smooth operation of the plant.
Located in Taplejung District, the Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Project is the largest hydropower project developed in the district to date. Constructed approximately two years ago, the electricity generated from the project is transmitted to the national grid through the Basantapur Substation.
With the resumption of operations, the project is expected to contribute significantly to stabilizing power supply in the region.
