Rs 72.41b in taxes collected in 6 months
KATHMANDU, Feb 3 :
Revenue collection increased by 14.73 percent in the first six months of the current fiscal year compared to the same period of the previous year but missed the target of six months.
The country´s revenue collection amounted to Rs 72.41 billion, which is 95 percent of the target of Rs 75.63 billion set for the first six months.
Statistics of the revenue collection was presented in a review program of six months organized at the Department of Inland Revenue on Thursday.
Director General of IRD Chudamani Sharma said that they will make full attempt to achieve the target by mid-February. Sharma also stressed on the need for focusing on tax investigation as well as expediting market monitoring.
Government has yet to recover taxes from 100,000 taxpayers. Income tax collection in the six months stood at Rs 39 billion while Value Added Tax collection was Rs 18.97 billion.
