Remit Hydro, subsidiary of HIDCL, developing 71.5 MW Hydropower project; invites consultants for DPR

Remit Hydro Limited, a subsidiary company of Hydroelectricity Investment and Development Company Ltd. (HIDCL), is developing Ghunsa Hydroelectric Project of 71.5 MW capacity in Taplejung district. It is inviting Expression of Interest (EOI) for invitation of applications from interested and eligible National and International Consulting firms and their joint ventures to procure consulting services for Updated Feasibility Study and Detailed Engineering Design.
The hydropower company is seeking consultation services regarding Updated Feasibility Study, detailed engineering survey, investigation and design of overall project components and preparation of Detailed Project Report (DPR). The hired consultant will also provide cost estimates, necessary drawings and tender documents for the project.
As per the notice published by the company today, the study will take 18 months in total.
HIDCL, established in 2011, works on investment and development of hydropower plants. It has so far, co-financed nine projects worth Rs 5.2 billion having installed capacity of 437 MW. It is now operating as a public company after floating its Initial Public Offering (IPO) worth Rs 2 arba to the general public. The general public hold 20% stake in HIDCL, while Government of Nepal holds 50%, and Employees Provident Fund, Rastriya Beema Sansthan and Citizen Investment Trust hold 10% each.
Remit Hydro was established with the objective by mobilizing the enormous remittance inflows into Nepal. It aims to develop midsized hydropower projects in Nepal, primarily by utilizing remittance as a source of financing and giving migrant workers an opportunity to get involved in national development. Remit Hydro has been set up as a part of HIDCL’s plan to execute a project under HIDCL's own leadership. HIDCL owns 51 percent stake in RHL.
