Rasuwa Customs Collects Rs 1.16 Billion in First Half of FY 2082/83
The Rasuwa Customs Office has collected revenue amounting to Rs 1.16 billion during the first six months of the current fiscal year 2082/83 BS, reflecting steady trade activities through the northern border point. Chief Customs Officer Tulasi Prasad Bhattarai shared the information, highlighting the Office’s ongoing efforts to ensure smooth customs operations and revenue mobilization.
According to Bhattarai, customs officials are currently screening around 200 containers loaded with various goods. He noted that despite operational challenges, the Office has continued to facilitate trade while maintaining strict inspection and regulatory procedures.
The Rasuwa Customs Office also marked the 74th Customs Day by organizing a special event on Monday. The program focused on recognizing the role of customs administration in trade facilitation, revenue collection, and border management. On the occasion, the Office honored two businesspersons and four customs officials for their outstanding contributions and performance.
Speaking at the event, Bhattarai said that the Nepal Inter-Model Transport Development Committee is actively working to clear debris accumulated in the dry port area following flooding in the Lhende River on July 7, 2025. The flood had deposited a large amount of debris in the area, creating operational constraints for cargo handling and vehicle movement.
He added that once the debris removal work is completed, the dry port will be able to accommodate up to 250 trucks at a time, significantly improving cargo management capacity and easing congestion. The initiative is expected to enhance efficiency in customs clearance and support the smooth flow of trade through the Rasuwa border point.
Officials expressed confidence that the improved infrastructure and coordinated efforts among concerned agencies will further strengthen customs operations in the coming months, contributing positively to national revenue and cross-border trade facilitation.
