Rastra Bank publishes circular regarding Nepali and foreign currency limit while travelling out of or into Nepal

Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) has issued a circular regarding the transportation of Nepali and foreign currency in and out of the country. The circular states:

Nepali or foreigners while traveling to another country or entering Nepal can have no more than Rs 5000 in their possession.

Nepali or foreigners while traveling to another country or entering Nepal can have no more than $ 5000 in their possession. This includes cash and other forms of convertible money. However, in special cases, the restriction won't be applied after the bank's guarantee.

If Nepali or foreigners, while traveling to another country or entering Nepal, have more than $ 5000 in their possession then they will have to declare it in the customs.

In the process of implementation if any problem occurs, then the party can write an application to NRB.
