After a two-day hiatus, the price of Indian dried onions has been officially determined in the Kalimati wholesale vegetable market today. In response to the recent developments, the maximum price for Indian dried onions has been set at Rs 80 per kg, with the minimum price fixed at Rs 75 per kg in the Kalimati wholesale vegetable market on Thursday.

The market experienced a temporary disruption when the Indian government decided to impose a 40% tax on onion exports. For two days, Kalimati's fruit and vegetable market remained inactive, as onions were not available. However, the prices established today have reverted to levels seen prior to the Indian government's decision to impose the 40 percent tax on onion exports.

It's worth noting that the Indian government made the decision to levy a 40 percent tax on onion exports last Saturday. At that time, the maximum price of Indian dried onions was Rs 62 per kg, while the minimum price was Rs 60 per kg in the Kalimati wholesale vegetable market on the following Sunday. On Monday, onion prices witnessed an increase. However, no prices were set for Tuesday and Wednesday.

India's imposition of a 40 percent tax on onion exports took effect on August 19, a Saturday. The Times of India reports that India's decision to lower export prices and impose the tax is aimed at ensuring the abundant availability of onions in the domestic market. The Indian Ministry of Finance anticipates that this measure will lead to a reduction in onion exports, ultimately stabilizing prices within India. It is expected that this regulation will remain in effect until December 31.
