Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said the accumulation of people’s capital on a small scale would lead the successful completion of big projects independently.

Inaugurating the opening of share applications of ‘Trishuli B’ hydropower project with the theme of "Nepal’s water, people’s investment and Nepali, shareholders of electricity,” under the people’s hydroelectricity programme amidst a programme here today, the prime minister presented an idea of collecting people’s small scale capital as bees collecting the nectar to make honey so as to invest in big projects and make the country independent and prosperous.

“Nepal is rich in energy. Proper utilisation of available water resources is awaited. And in this context, hydropower projects should be made successful.” He called on all Nepalis at home and abroad to be part of the programme.

He insisted that this kind of projects should be undertaken without begging for external financial support. He was of the view of making the country self-sufficient by connecting people’s investment in agriculture and tourism.

On the occasion held at the Prime Minister’s official residence, Baluwatar by the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, the prime minister purchased 10,000 units of share. The people’s hydroelectricity programme was launched on February 14, 2019.
