PM Disaster Relief Fund Receives Rs. 5.024 Billion; Government Calls for Donations Through Official Accounts

More than Rs. 5.024 billion has been collected in the Prime Minister’s Natural Disaster Relief Fund so far, with contributions continuing to rise following the recent Bhotekoshi floods and other natural disasters.

According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM), a total of Rs. 5.0246 billion has been deposited into the Fund to date. The contributions have come from individuals and institutions within Nepal as well as from abroad.

The OPMCM said donations to both the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and the Prime Minister’s Relief Fund have been increasing as individuals and organizations extend financial support to people affected by the Bhotekoshi floods and other disasters.

To promote transparency in the collection and utilization of relief funds, the government has also introduced a ‘Rescue Request Portal’ through which details of contributions received through the two funds will be made publicly accessible.

As of Sunday noon, the funds had received deposits through accounts maintained at nine commercial banks. The Prime Minister’s Office further stated that an additional USD 2.1 million had been deposited in accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank and Laxmi Bank.

Against this backdrop, the government has urged individuals, organizations, and other donors willing to provide financial assistance to contribute only through the officially published QR code and bank accounts registered under the names ‘Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund’ and ‘Prime Minister’s Relief Fund.’

The government said the appeal is aimed at ensuring the transparent and proper utilization of donations, effective management of relief resources, and preventing potential financial fraud.

Detailed information on the official bank accounts, QR codes, and other authorized methods of contribution has been made available through the official website of the OPMCM.
