Path to Obtaining Citizenship Clears

With the Supreme Court's refusal to issue an interim order, the path to obtaining citizenship has been opened. The Supreme Court declined to grant an interim order in the petition related to the verification of the Citizenship Act.
On Thursday, a joint bench of two judges, Dr. Anand Mohan Bhattarai and Kumar Regmi, ordered that the previously granted short-term interim order by the single-judge bench should not be continued.
Furthermore, the previous halt in the implementation of the bill approved by President Ram Chandra Poudel has been lifted.
The bill, which was passed by the previous parliament and sent for verification, was appealed to the Supreme Court because it was verified by the previous parliament and the elected president (Bidya Devi Bhandari).
In the writ filed by senior advocate Balkrishna Neupane and Dr. Surendra Bhandari, Judge Manoj Kumar Sharma had earlier issued a show-cause and short-term interim order in response to the opponent.
During the hearing held on Thursday to determine the continuation of the short-term interim order, the bench of Justices Bhattarai and Regmi ordered that the short-term interim order should not be continued. Consequently, the path to obtaining citizenship has been opened for those who are eligible based on the approved bill.
