Partial Solar eclipse witnessed; eclipse that began from 10:50 lasted till 2:23 pm yesterday

A partial solar eclipse occurred, which was also visible from Nepal yesterday. This partial eclipse that began from 10:50 lasted till 2:23 pm.

According to the Calendar Determination Committee chair Prof Dr. Ram Chandra Gautam, it lasted for 3 hours and 33 minutes. Astrologer JayantaAcharya shared that the sun was covered 98 percent, as seen from Limpiyadhura, Lipulek, and Kalapani regions.

These territories were recently incorporated in Nepal’s political and administrative map. Similarly, the sun was seen with 88 percent covered by darkness in the Kathmandu region. People from different walks of life had reached Gokarneshwar, Uttargaya, Devghat, Trivenidham, and Ridi for a holy bath during the eclipse period. According to Hindu religious scripts, people should take a holy bath for purity soon after the eclipse.

A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon passes between Earth and the Sun. Also called the day of the dark moon, it is locally called Aunshi.
