OYO Hotels was launched in May 2013 by Ritesh Agarwal, the first resident Asian to be accepted to the Thiel Fellowship (started by Paypal founder Peter Thiel). It’s South Asia’s largest, one of China’s top 10, and world’s fastest-growing chain of hotels, homes and living spaces, with a presence in India, China, Malaysia, Nepal, the U.K., UAE and more recently Indonesia. More often than not travelers and city-dwellers were forced to compromise on location, quality and price. Ritesh wanted to fix this problem using technology and talent. That’s how OYO was launched in 2013, with the promise of delivering predictable, affordable, anytime-available stay experiences for travelers. Over the last five years, OYO hotels has built distribution, operational and transformational, construction capabilities, which makes it possible for it to onboard and transform hotels in a record time of 3-14 days. OYO's strong team of civil engineers undertakes the required construction and renovation work for small, unbranded hotels, and upscales them to quality living spaces. So now on, you will not have to compromise on quality and availability while staying at budget-friendly rooms. When you book OYO, you get a guaranteed amazing OYO experience across all hotels under the OYO network.  In short, when you book OYO, you get to stay in OYO and not any random XYZ hotel.

OYO’s global footprint currently spans over 500+ cities, 12,000+ exclusive hotels in seven countries, including India, China, Malaysia and Nepal, the U.K., UAE and Indonesia, and over 330,000+ rooms. In China, OYO is hosting guests in 263+ cities, 2,600+ hotels, and 173,000+ rooms under franchise, manchise and leased format.

OYO launched its operations in Nepal in May 2017 and since then has expanded its chain to Kathmandu and Pokhara with 1,800+ exclusive rooms in 100+ hotels with standardized rooms starting NPR 999 and averaging at NPR 2000. OYO currently has 45 employees in Nepal. OYO was also the hospitality partner for the recently held cricket sport Pokhara Premier League (PPL) held in Pokhara.

All OYO rooms have a set of specified standards that they have to comply at all times. The key features of OYO rooms include TV, spotless linen, complimentary breakfast; free Wi-Fi, hygienic washrooms, a toiletries kit in each room, yellow lights, standard mattress size, fresh smell, etc.

The OYO app is the most convenient way to book an OYO. Guests can book a room of their choice within seconds and it further allows swift check-in, ordering food and room service. Once the booking is made, the app allows the guest to navigate conveniently to the hotel location. It also allows users to view, manage or cancel their bookings conveniently. With multiple payment gateways available on the app, guests also have the option to pay at the hotel. In addition to the app, users can also book an OYO via its website and call centre which can be reached on +977-1-4217474.
