KATHMANDU:

UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that his party was committed to the norms and values of the open market economy.

Receiving a memorandum submitted by the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI), Nepal Chamber of Commerce and Confederation of Nepalese Industries today, the former prime minister said that the public private partnership modality would be taken ahead and open market economy would be inscribed in a new constitution.

He urged the private sectors’ representatives not to worry with the term socialism and added that the political parties in Nepal were convinced to the role of the private sectors for the country’s economic prosperity.

Stating that the Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist were forwarding the socialism on their own modality, Dahal argued that support of all sides was expected for political stability and change.

Dahal was of the view that the country would naturally enter into socialism after full-scale development of industrialisation and political process would also take shape accordingly.

The UCPN-Maoist Chairman also said that support of all was needed to complete the ongoing constitution writing process and hailed the supports of the business community for providing feedback in the draft constitution.

On the occasion, the three organisations of the private sector put forth their demands for liberal market-oriented economy, social security and labour flexibility and others in the new constitution.

After submitting the memorandum, FNCCI President Pashupati Murarka said that the labourers should not be involved in the management as their involvement would result in disturbance in labour relations.
