Number of Demat account holders crosses the mark of 15 lakhs; Investors using digital platform to apply for IPOs

The use of digital means in primary and secondary market has increased in the recent months. Currently, 4.26 arba of shares have been dematerialized. Similarly, the number of Demat account has crossed 15 lakhs. As per the officials in CSDC, 4 lakh 85 thousand individuals have subscribed meroshare. During IPO issues, 70% of application is attained through meroshare. Still, 30% shares bought from the primary market have not yet been dematerialized. As per the information provided by the CDSC, about 70% shares have been dematerialized till date.

There are 204 registered companies, 64 registered banks in C-ASBA, 69 registered DPs in meroshare, 50 registered clearing member, 63 RTA list and 69 licensed depository participants in CDS.
