Nepse Wrap up (Review period 20th April to 23rd April, 2014)

After last week's stationary transition, the Nepse index this week came to propel by 9.26 points. With the incline, the benchmark index came to breach the 50 days’ high. The market index this week came to settle at 820.38 level.
In spite the bearish movement in the beginning two trading days’ of this week, the market came to revive in the last two trading days. The investors’ attraction towards the insurance scrips mainly set a positive effect in the latter days of this week.
Back to back three days incline in most of the Insurance scrips formulated a positive sentiment among investors towards others listed scrips, which attributed in the overall growth of the market. Insurance sub-index this week made surge of staggering 196.56 points.
However, Banking and Others, two of the heavy weights in Nepse, witness scanty gain compared to Insurance. Banking added 2.14 points and Others increased by 2.35 points.
Among the two remaining banking and financial institution sub-indices, Development suffered loss of 0.7 points and Finance surged by 5.74 points. As for Hydro, it plunged by massive 46.06 points.
While, Hotels and Manufacturing, two of the smallest sub-indices in terms of weightage, made a growth of 75.90 points and 78.46 points respectively.
In case of, Sensitive index, which measures the movement of blue chip companies, it advanced by 1.10 points to settle at 174.86 level. While, Float index, which measures the movement of ordinary shares only, increased by 0.60 point to settle at 55.59 level.
Altogether, there were 154 traded scrips, among which 78 scrips gained, 13 remained intact and 63 scrips lost.
The best performer this week among the ordinary traded scrips was Rastriya Beema Sansthan (RBS), closed at Rs 6198, with a gain of Rs 1540 or 33.06 percent. Whereas, Cosmos Development Bank Limited (CSDBL), closed at Rs 160, was the worst performer with a decline of Rs 27 or 14.44 percent.
Among the traded scrips, Chilime Hydro power Co. (CHCL), closed at Rs 1890, had the highest turnover worth Rs 106,683,104 totaling 56,317 units which was carried out by 466 transactions.
The Broker with the highest transaction of CHCL was Broker No 19 (Nepal Investment & Securities Trading Pvt.Ltd) with 9.57 percent standalone dealing, totaling 10,728 units worth Rs 20,425,582 via 51 transactions, which include two matching transactions tallying 223 units worth Rs 426,666.
The total turnover of the market for this week stood at Rs 1,097,619,966, totaling 2,146,362 share units which were traded through 8,706 transactions. The market capitalization at the end of the week tallied at 836,071.17 Millions.
