NEPSE under political grip: Index slips by 6.75 points; Improvement in turnover above Rs 2.07 arba

The benchmark index at Nepal Stock Exchange Limited (NEPSE) went down by 6.75 points or 0.39% to close at 1703.07 points today. Today, NEPSE Index opened 1710.01 points and after and the local bourse inclined up to 1737.52 in the first trading hour of the day. The market was showing signs of increment at the end of the last trading hour, but the news of Madhesi Forum pulling out of the local election set off a selling spree – dragging the market down by over 34 points in the last 30 minutes. index 310,762 unit shares of NMB Samriddhi Fund-1 (NMBSF-1) and 222,069 unit shares of NMB Hybrid Fund L-1 (NMBHF-1) were traded the most today. 11 companies hit positive circuit break today. Surya Life Insurance Company Limited (SLICL) and Nepal Credit and Commerce Bank Limited (NCCB) had the highest turnover of Rs 10.36 crore and Rs 9.46 crore respectively today. The number of transactions of SLICL and NCCB reached 374 and 448. The total turnover of the day stood above Rs 2.07 arba where more than 38.96 lakh units shares were traded through 11,974 transactions. Sensitive and float index went up by 1.94 and 0.68 points respectively.
